Blank Specialty Labels on Rolls · Blank labels on rolls

Blank does not have to mean plain white

The short answer: the blank range is not six industrial stocks — it is 84, and among them a textured Tintoretto, a gold paper, a holographic film, a compostable PLA and a grass paper. On a run of a hundred, they all cost within a few euros of ordinary white. This page prices the white Tintoretto, from £56 per 100.

The one thing worth knowing

On a hundred labels the stock is nearly free. On three thousand it is the whole bill.

At a hundred labels, sixty-seven of the eighty-four blank stocks sit between £50 and £62: a textured Tintoretto at £56, a gold paper at £56, a compostable PLA film at £56, a holographic PET at £60 — against £56 for plain matt white. Choosing the interesting one costs a handful of euros.

At three thousand the same choice is a different conversation: plain matt white is £72, the Tintoretto £100, the brushed aluminium £182 and the holographic film £264. Specialty blanks are short-run stocks, priced as short-run stocks — which is exactly how most people use them.

What is in there

Five families nobody expects to find unprinted

Textured papers

White and cream Tintoretto, laid, kraft, pearlescent, grooved and smooth black — the creative range, on rolls, from £56. A thermal transfer print on a textured paper looks like nothing else at this price.

Metallic & holographic

Bright silver and gold papers at £56, silver metallised polypropylene at £56, brushed and matt aluminium polyester at £59 to £61, holographic PET at £60.

Fluorescent & coloured

Four fluorescent papers at £54, gloss white, black and yellow vinyl at £57, deep black and smooth black papers — see coloured dots.

Eco & compostable

Recycled white at £56, sugarcane fibre, stone paper and grass paper at £56, clear and white PLA film at £56 to £58, cellulose films. Read what compostable really covers before you claim it.

Extreme conditions

Cryogenic polypropylene to −196 °C at £56, freezer film, a high-temperature polyimide at £125 — the dearest blank stock we hold, and the only one made to go through a reflow oven.

Security

VOID polyester at £62, a UV VOID film at £62, destructible acetate at £56 and the 3M destructible polyurethane at £77 — for organisations that number their own seals in-house.

Two limits to know before ordering

No protection, and nothing above 100 × 70 mm

Every blank stock ships unprotected, specialty ones included: a varnish or a lamination would stand between your print head and the surface. On a textured or metallic stock this matters more than usual — the print sits on the surface and is only as robust as your ribbon, so use resin rather than wax if the label will be handled.

And the ceiling is 100 × 70 mm across the whole blank range, in four free-shape bands. Larger specialty labels exist, but printed by us: the creative papers run to 100 × 105 mm and beyond on quotation.

FAQ

Blank specialty stocks — what customers ask us

Which specialty stocks can I actually get blank?

Textured and creative papers, metallic and holographic films, fluorescent and coloured papers, vinyls, recycled, stone, sugarcane and grass papers, compostable PLA and cellulose films, freezer and cryogenic stocks, VOID and destructible security films, and a high-temperature polyimide. Eighty-four in total, listed on blank labels on rolls.

Why is the holographic film cheap at 100 and expensive at 3 000?

Because a small order is mostly setup and a large one is mostly material. The holographic PET is £60 for a hundred labels — seven euros more than a fluorescent paper — and £264 for three thousand, where the plain white paper is £72. Specialty blanks are made for short runs, and priced that way.

Can a textured paper go through a thermal printer?

Through a thermal transfer printer, yes, with a resin ribbon and a slightly slower speed. The texture means the print sits on the peaks, which is part of the look. A direct thermal printer will not mark it at all — there is no heat-sensitive coating on these papers.

Can I have a specialty stock varnished or laminated?

Not blank. A coating would stop your printer marking the label. If you want a protected specialty label, it has to be printed by us: the creative papers and metallic stocks take gloss and matt lamination in the printed range.

Is the compostable film really compostable with its adhesive?

The film is. The adhesive is the question, and a compostable film with a standard adhesive is not a compostable label — the point is explained on biodegradable labels. Tell us what certification you need and we confirm the pair rather than the film alone.
