Brushed Metal Labels · Metallic

The label that reads as part of the machine

The short answer: a polyester film with a brushed aluminium surface — the fine directional grain of a machined plate. Unlike the metallised papers in this range it is a film: waterproof, tear-proof, and comfortable on equipment that gets wiped. From €152 per 100.

Paper or film?

The only metallic in this range that survives wet

The bright silver and gold stocks are metallised papers: beautiful, cheap, and finished by a fridge shelf. Brushed aluminium is a polyester film with a metal surface, so it goes where the others cannot — a machine wiped with a damp cloth, an appliance in a kitchen, a tool used outdoors for a season.

It also reads differently. The brushed grain suggests engineering rather than luxury, which is why it ends up on rating plates, hi-fi and premium appliances rather than on spirits. Printed in one colour with a reinforced adhesive, it is the standard specification for equipment identification — and it is €59 cheaper per hundred than the one-colour industrial films.

Getting the plate right

What goes on an equipment label

A rating plate is a typographic object, not a design: model, serial number, electrical data, CE marking, year. Three practical points from the jobs we produce —

Serial numbers in the run

Each plate can carry its own number and barcode, printed label by label from 100 units. It is what turns a plate into a traceable unit.

One colour is enough

Black on brushed metal is both the most legible and the cheapest option. Full colour exists for a logo, but it costs €75 more per hundred.

Reinforced adhesive

Powder-coated housings and cold metal need it. It grabs on contact and keeps building for a day — press the plate firmly rather than laying it on.

FAQ

Brushed metal — what customers ask us

Is it a metal plate?

No — a polyester film with a brushed aluminium surface. It looks and photographs like a machined plate at a fraction of the cost and weight, and it applies like a label rather than needing rivets or screws.

Will it survive outdoors?

A season or two comfortably. For years of full exposure, a laminated white or clear industrial polyester holds up better against UV — the brushed surface is chosen for appearance first. Indoors and in workshops it lasts for the life of the equipment.

Can it carry a serial number?

Yes. Sequential numbers, barcodes and unique QR codes are printed in the run from 100 labels — see numbered labels. It is the usual specification for machine plates and calibrated equipment.

One colour or full colour?

One colour at €152 per 100 covers almost every rating plate: black on brushed metal is the most legible combination there is. Full colour at €227 makes sense only when a coloured logo is mandatory.

How is it different from matt aluminium polyester?

The matt aluminium film in the industrial range is a flatter, greyer surface with a reinforced 3M adhesive, sold from €211 in one colour. Brushed aluminium is the decorative version — finer grain, more visible direction, and cheaper.

It looks machined. It applies like a label.
