Why it works
A colour no printer can imitate
Fluorescent pigments absorb ultraviolet and give it back as visible light. The paper therefore emits more light in its own colour than falls on it — the effect the eye reads as « glowing ». It is a physical property of the sheet, so printing a bright yellow rectangle on white paper never reproduces it, at any price.
That is also its limit. The same pigments break down in sunlight: a fluo label in a shop window is visibly duller after a season and pale after a year. Indoors it holds for years. If the label has to shout and live outdoors, the answer is a laminated synthetic film in a strong flat colour — less spectacular, far more durable.

Designing on fluo
Black, and as little else as possible
The paper is already the loudest thing in the room. Everything printed on it should be quiet: black type, thick rules, a single symbol. Three practical rules that hold on every fluorescent job we produce —
Print black, not colours
Coloured ink on a fluorescent ground turns muddy: the sheet keeps emitting its own colour underneath. Black at €143 per 100 is both the cheapest and the most legible option; full colour is available at €224 if the design truly needs it.
Leave the paper visible
A design covering the whole label wastes the material. The fluorescent area is what carries across the aisle — the text only has to work once someone is close.
Use colour as a code
Four colours at the same price means a system: green passed, orange to check, red rejected. A warehouse reads a colour in a fraction of the time it reads a word.

FAQ
Fluorescent — what customers ask us
Why not just print a bright yellow on white paper?
Because the effect is physical, not printed. Fluorescent pigments convert invisible ultraviolet into visible light, so the sheet emits more of its own colour than it receives. A printed yellow only reflects — side by side, at three metres, there is no comparison.
Do fluorescent labels work outdoors?
Not for long. Sunlight breaks the pigment down: expect visible fading within a season and a washed-out label within a year. Indoors, away from a window, they hold for years. For outdoor visibility use a laminated synthetic film in a strong flat colour instead.
Can I print full colour on fluorescent paper?
Yes, from €224 per 100 — but the ground colour shows through every ink, so photographs turn muddy and pale tints disappear. Black on fluo at €143 is cheaper and, for warnings and prices, simply better.
Are all four colours the same price?
Yes. Yellow, orange, red and green cost exactly the same, which is what makes a colour-coding system practical: you can run four short jobs rather than one long one without paying for the privilege.
Can fluorescent labels be numbered?
Not in the run — variable data is not available on this stock. For numbered inspection labels, use a coated paper in a strong colour and add the numbering option, or overprint the number yourself on a blank fluo roll from €63 per 100.
