Design consequence
Grey is the material talking
Recycled fibre cannot be bleached back to a coated white without undoing the point of using it, so the sheet is a warm grey with visible specks. Colours printed on it sit back by roughly a tone — what looks like a strong red on screen arrives as a dusty red on the label.
The designs that work accept this rather than fight it: a single dark colour, plenty of bare paper, and no attempt at a photograph. The flecks then read as evidence instead of as a printing defect, which is exactly what a buyer is looking for on a refill or a zero-waste product.

Being precise about it
Recycled paper, not a recyclable pack
Two different claims, routinely confused on packaging, and only the first one belongs to the label:

True, and about the material we supply. It describes where the fibre came from, which is a fact you control and can print.
« Recyclable packaging »
A claim about the whole pack and the local sorting system — the label is one small part of it. A paper label on cardboard usually passes; the same label on glass or PET is judged by different rules. Tell us the packaging and we look at the combination.

FAQ
Recycled paper — what brands ask us
Is the paper made only from recycled fibre?
It is a post-consumer recycled stock — that is what the visible grey and the flecks come from. If a specific percentage or a certification has to appear on your pack, ask before ordering and we supply the exact declaration for this stock rather than paraphrasing it.
Why does it look grey?
Because bleaching it back to a coated white would undo most of the environmental point. The grey and the flecks are the honest signal of the material, and buyers of refill and zero-waste products read them as proof rather than as a defect.
Will my brand colours print correctly?
They will print about a tone softer than on coated white, because the sheet is greyer and slightly absorbent. If one exact colour is critical, print it as a spot colour — mixed to the reference, it holds far better than a four-colour build on this stock.
Is the adhesive recycled or biodegradable?
The standard adhesive is a conventional permanent. A biodegradable permanent exists in this range and must be asked for explicitly — a recycled paper carrying a conventional glue is still a recycled paper, but it is not a compostable label.
