What you are paying for
Thickness, and everything that follows from it
The resin does three things at once. It magnifies — a domed logo reads larger and deeper than the flat print underneath. It protects — a millimetre of cured polyurethane shrugs off knocks, cleaning products and UV in a way no lamination approaches. And it signals: a badge with weight and depth is read as part of the machine rather than as a label applied to it.
The cost follows from the process. Each dome is poured, levelled and cured, so at £282 per 100 it is one of the most expensive things in the catalogue — and the price barely moves with quantity, because the resin is the cost. If the badge only needs to look machined, the flat brushed aluminium at £130 does most of the job.

Before you design it
Three constraints the resin imposes
Simple shapes
The resin self-levels and holds its own edge by surface tension. Circles, ovals, rounded rectangles work; a narrow spike or a deep notch does not.
Keep the design off the edge
The dome curves at the rim, so anything within about 2 mm of the edge is distorted. Centre the mark and leave a margin.
Flat surfaces only
A cured dome does not bend. It belongs on a flat panel — never on a bottle, a tube or a tight curve.

Doming — what customers ask us
What exactly is doming?
A clear polyurethane resin poured onto the printed label. It self-levels, holds its edge by surface tension and cures into a thick, transparent dome with rounded sides — magnifying the print and protecting it under about a millimetre of hard resin.
Why is it so much more expensive?
Because each label is poured and cured individually, and the resin is the main cost. At £282 per 100 the price also falls slowly with quantity, unlike printed labels where the die and setup dominate the first hundred. It is a badge, priced like one.
Does it resist outdoor use?
Well — the resin handles UV, knocks and cleaning products far better than a lamination. It is the standard finish for dealer badges, machine plates and equipment that lives outside, on a flat surface.
Can I have any shape?
Simple outlines only: round, oval, rounded rectangle, shield. The resin needs a continuous edge to hold against, so fine spikes, thin necks and deep notches are not possible. Send the outline and we tell you before the proof.
Can it go on a curved surface?
No. Once cured the dome is rigid — it belongs on a flat panel. For a curved or moulded surface, a flat printed film with a reinforced adhesive is the right specification: see polyethylene.
