Gold or silver?
The same paper, two different rooms
Technically nothing separates them: identical base, identical lamination, five euros apart. What separates them is what the buyer reads. Gold is warm, traditional and edible-adjacent — it belongs on spirits, honey, chocolate, anything that suggests age or richness. Silver is cool, clinical and technical — pharmacy, perfume, workshop, contemporary spirits.
One practical difference: gold is more forgiving with warm printing colours. A deep brown, a burgundy or a bottle green sit comfortably on a gold ground, whereas on silver they turn slightly grey. Cool colours do the opposite. Either way, black works on both — and it is what most labels in this range use.

Gold ground — what customers ask us
Is gold more expensive than silver?
By five euros per hundred — £124 against £120. At that difference the choice is purely about what the product should say, not about budget.
Which printing colours work on gold?
Black above all, and warm dark colours — brown, burgundy, bottle green — which sit comfortably on the warm ground. Cool colours turn muddy, and pale tints disappear because the inks are transparent. For an exact brand colour we print an opaque white underneath first.
Is this real gold?
It is a metallised paper: a very thin metal layer over a paper base, coloured gold. Real gold leaf is a different craft and a different price. What matters commercially is that it reflects light like metal rather than looking like printed yellow — which a four-colour build never does.
Can it go on a chilled bottle?
Not for long — the base is paper and condensation lifts it. For a chilled or wet product, the gold metallised film at £177 per 100 gives the same appearance on a waterproof film.
Does it take hot foil as well?
That combination is rarely worth it: foil on a metallic ground barely reads. If you want a raised, catching-the-light element, put it on a textured paper instead — the contrast between matt fibre and bright foil is what makes foil visible.
